Bad Management

I have been working since last 3 yrs now, I have worked with two small level companies. Learn lot of things in these 3 yrs from making a software, writing code, thinking about logics, managing team, configuring servers, Installing server application, Creating database, writing documentation and lot more…

I evolve from a junior programmer to software consultant in last 3 yrs, making more than 30 web application out of those mostly are ecommerce site with expeirnce in email marketing software, web game, Windows Game, Linux Server management Software, Setup of company Local Intranet, Defining documentation presentation to be used within company.

But in all only one thing frustrate me over and over. It happens a lot in small level company with 20-30 developers. That is bad management, Boss always look to earn more and spent less and often they forget more the money you invest more return you get. I know there is a balance required in every thing, but it should be a balanced object. Even if you have a small company, you still need to define CTC for your employee, you still need to analyze your software and calculate the time spent of it accurately. I often see if as developer/software consultant I ask for  15 days  time for development, I have been given 10 days to develop it. If I asked for experince programmer, I have been give freshers as programmer. If I ask Flash programmer I have been given Flash designer that know action script there are lot more there to write.

But whats the use, Boss will never understood that they are not going upwards, and they don’t need to think of it too, they have money. If company fails they still survive, but as programmer ..employeed programmer do we are safe in such company.

Is it right to stay with such company on moral values? or shall one like me should leave such company for better opporunity in terms of money or personnel growth.

  1. U shud leave the comp as soon as poss and grab the opportunity which is knocking ur door.

  2. Are you sure that the blame should squarely fall on the company. I think you are at fault too. In the one hand you say you have been programming from the last 3 years, but in these 3 years have you developed any strategy?

A good programmer is one who is never satisfied with his way of working. He/she always tries to find ways to do it in a better manner.

From your posts i can see that you are a hard worker. But are you a smart worker??

  3. How can you say that I don’t have any programming strategy ?

and how can you say I am satisfied with my programming style …

Also, if someone have a strategy that works for him, why will he not be satisfied with it ?

It is just how you see other, If I don’t have strategy, I cannot work in ASP.NET and PHP , in C#.NET and PERL or VB.NET or javascript or VBScript, or XML or HTML .. and most importantly without mixing my code or Syntax while programming in these lanaguage.

I don’t have words for your question, as I am still learning to make strategies.. I am innocent programmer not a “smart ass”.
